I have been doing some research into the History of the Theocracy recently and came across the following entry which I thought might be of interest:

Then amongst the violence of the war of the Empire and the Union, during the Third Cycle of the Temple, came Solarix. Solarix a patriot of the Union, a young warrior, brash and true, willing to strike any foe, entered the Temple of Kai-Rang. Solarix moved amongst the deadly stars of Rigel and other corners of Empire Space, smashing the Empires economy where ever it stood.

Long had Solarix battled beyond the lines of the Union, cutoff from ally and safety. Finally defeated he journeyed to the center of a hidden den to meditate and pray to the Matriarchs. It was here that the flames of anger and spite reached up into him, not to consume his soul, but to lift it to action. Then before Solarix, the spirit of Unquenchable Anger, the Matriarch of Wrath, Koo-Rir appeared to Solarix. The flame of her eyes bore down on Solarix and yet Solarix's spirit did not wane and he embraced the Matriarch's Wrath and gave up all that held him down to her to be devoured.

Thus Solarix emerged, and challenged for the Guardianship of Koo-Rir, and also took up a quest for her for the Jewel of Tears, as she called on it. I also came across the following. Does Zuisibur still consider himself to be Guardian of Koo-Chippujana?

The war raged through the Galaxy as the Empire and Union struck each other on a thousand different worlds. In brutal battles where all matter of alien fought bitterly for a few acres of ground. In these battles a Made Man of the Union, Zuisibur, fought brilliantly and was a lead supporter of ground assaults in many clusters. Zuisibur had been one of the longest serving Obsidian Guardians of the Temple. In his duties he was always prepared. In the war against the Federation he had piloted an Interceptor to help defend Union-09 against attack.

So it was that one of the most beloved of the Temple was approached by the Spirit of Chippujana this day. She promised to hold him straight and to give him balance in any battle and to bring him many victories if he were to guard her stone. And thus assured of her love of him, Zuisibur entered the sacred gates of the Guardians.

So it was the Zuisibur became the Guardian of Chippujana. May Zuisibur reign in strength until such time as Koo-Chippujana finds another greater champion and may that be a very distant time to come. Ascension

In the recent age the Temples of Kai-Rang were scattered and faltering in a time in which technology was quickly reconstructing the fabric of society. Then the discovery of the Obsidian Tablets on Aandti caused a revelation and resurgence in the believers of Kai-Rang. At first it spread into the Rashkir clusters and neutral zone, and then later to long forgotten temples established by priests in all clusters of the galaxy.

Then shortly afterwards, in the span of the galactic timeline, the Matriarch Council of Ioliaa came into possession of a large crystal on which were inscribed the runes for each of the sixteen Matriarch's of Kai-Rang. They held it in secrecy until such a time as they could understand it's purpose and meaning to the temple.

After a long time a young Rashkir, who was blocked from the Ascension came into their service. He learned of their ways and the ways of the reading the runes. But chaffed and ran away from them to be a pilot and a warrior and a trader and a patriot. Everything they knew that he was not to be. Eventually that pilot came back to them and was given the mission of communing with the Matriarch's spirits and in doing so reenergizing the Kai-Rang Crystal, as they called it.

So he fought with the Matriarchs and the crystal glowed bright with magical fires and from it the pilot could hear the whispers always of the Matriarchs. Finally with each of the runes a glow with the spirit of a conquered Matriarch the Crystal was returned to the deepest temple on Ioliaa. There it rested amongst a circle of priests who meditated and prayed upon it day after day.

Then one day a cataclysmic event occured in the galaxy and the Kai-Rang Crystal glowed as if cast into an inferno and with a mighty roar exploded with magic power and all were amazed. For shortly after the galaxy experienced what has come to be known as the Aperture. New wormholes opened up into old clusters lost in time, blocked by an unknown force and beasts and all matter of thing emerged to challenge the warriors.

This pilot, that had filled the Kai-Rang Crystal with the spirit power of the Matriarchs, was summoned once again to Ioliaa. His new task was to chart the course for a Pilgrimage dedicated to Kai-Rang and his Matriarchs. He was given the broken shards of the Kai-Rang Crystal, each one bearing the spiritual mark of a Matriarch, plus a new runic crystal that had emerged from the center. This was the Master Rune. And upon completion of the Pilgrimage it was divined that no one pilot could hope to hold the Kai-Rang Crystal by himself and manifest it powers. That the Crystal could only be forged together through the flesh and blood of brave warriors, devoted priests, and ardent seeker of the truth.

So it was decided that who ever could complete the Red Dragon Pilgrimage and joined the new interstellar temple, this Theocracy of Kai-Rang, would receive one of the Matriarch's Crystals. And that upon receiving it would be endowed as an agent of that Matriarch, chosen to do and be the will of that spirit.

Now it has come to past that Tulkas, a Keldon of the Union, who was first to complete the Red Dragon Pilgrimage has taken up the right to Ascend. He has decided to Ascend into the ranks of the Runic Guardians and has taken up the Rune of Koo-Kengen, Matriarch of Power, to be her voice and her claw in this mortal world.

May Tulkas reign in strength until such time as Koo-Kengen finds another greater champion and may that be a very distant time to come. May Tulkas win many victories for Koo-Kengen and may the Galaxy tremble at Kai-Rang;s chosen children.

A few days have past, and Slothrop, a Keldon of the Union, who was the first pilot to take up the Red Dragon Pilgrimage, and who mapped the future path of the Pilgrimage across the North Pardus Rim and into the Gap Cluster, also has taken up the right to Ascend. He has decided to join the Runic Guardians and has taken up the Rune of Koo-Paibisundarat, the Matriarch of Beauty, to be her voice and her claw in this mortal world.

Now from the time that Slothrop had began his Pilgrimage to the present, nearly half a dozen others had attempted to make the perilous journey. But as the journey is not only one of skills but also perseverance and determination many, other than the mighty Tulkas had failed. So it was a sight to behold when another great warrior arrived at the Temple of Lavebe to begin his journey. But one became two and two became three. So it was that Klaus Trophobie took and completed each of the three first Pilgrimages and did so in a Rustfire.

This act of defiance to Koo-Hon brought him to the brink of death many times. Though he is not enrolled as a member of the Temple, his courage and his completion of the Red Dragon Pilgrimage gives Klaus the right to Ascend. And so after consideration Klaus has taken on the special rune of Koo-Vayu, the Matriarch of Air, and to be her voice and her claw in this mortal world. As well as to be the messenger for the great Sky God, Kai-Rang.

Long before the galaxy knew of a Harrison Straw, or a Shadow Syndicate. Long before the rise of the Esteemed Pilots Syndicate. One warrior of the Rashkir had both taken and given blows to the terrorist of the galaxy. It was on a fateful day long ago on the peaceful world of Exiool that terrorist set an explosive that ripped into a city block, destroying the offices of the Eye of the Union.

And it was that same day that Sairence took to the stars and found the fleeing terrorist and ripped them open in vengeance. Perhaps no one has fought more for justice in the Trans-Rashkan with a selfless attitude than he. Long has Sairence worshipped the Sky God and his Matriarchs and long has Sairence been under the gaze of the Matriarch of Fire, Koo-Kaj. So it was Sairence joined the Temple, and began to pursue to the Pilgrimage. In the Temple Open area the journal of his exploits and thoughts were posted to encourage all of the children to venture forth. And finally he has accomplished what few could, and likely he will be the last Pilgrim to venture on the Draco's Path from the first cycle.

When presented with the opportunity to Ascend he did not hesitate. For Kaj does not whisper to his soul. No Kaj is in his heart and comes forth from his throat. Her spirit envelopes him and leads him. So it is that Sairence ascended and took up Koo-Kaj's rune, the Matriarch of Fire. To be her voice and her claw in this mortal world.

In the Second Cycle of the Temple, the Union and Federation joined in war together. It was unfortunate and we mourned the loss of Guardian of Vayu to the void and prayed that Kai-Rang would take his soul up and make him an immortal dragon amongst all the great warriors of old.

In this great struggle though the Constellation of Draco changed, and a new Pilgrimage was ordained by the Matriarchs. It was in this time that the great warriors came to the Temple, just at the twilight of the Second Cycle and the Dawn of the Third.

The first warrior to come was a pilot named Courageous, who took up the Pilgrimage of Kai-Rang at the close of the Federation and Union War. Immediately Koo-Sahas called out to him, for she was the Matriarch of Courage and Courageous took up her Guardianship.

The second warrior to come was Corp Arislide Dumall, who long had given shelter and gifts to the Temple Kai-Rang, and had built the starbase Evergreen Oasis outside the original den of Koo-Koura. Corp Arislide Dumall communed with Koo-Koura for many festivals and listened often to her whispers. At the close of the war he also took up the Pilgrimage. It was during this time that the call of Koo-Koura became too great for him to ignore. And he joined the Temple and won the Guardianship of Gold.

The third warrior to come was Dexter Thorpan. Long had Dexter travelled the void and communed with the dragons and spirits of the galaxy. For his entire career he had fought for justice and for peace. Long had he meditated upon the cosmos. So it was that when the new Pilgrimage began, he took it up. In his travels his last visit was to Koo-Its. And in communing with her found a new purpose and joined the Temple and became the Guardian of Koo-Its.

But before the arrival of Solarix, Vorheart, Son of the Union, a warrior known to many, came to the Temple in order to take up the Pilgrimage. But as happens to many warriors, fate intervened in his journey as the Empire struck into Nhandu. Leaving behind the Pilgrimage temporarily, Vorheart began to seek out the greatest warriors of the Empire.

He went to Lahola. He went to Veareth. He went Kitalpha, Rigel, and even Zuben Elakrab to fight between the vaunted warriors of the Empire even passing by the tentacles of the horrible Preywinders. For a while many of the Matriarch's called to Vorheart. For such a champion, brave, courageous, a warrior of deep conviction, passion and faith is rare amongst the Children of the Sky God.

Finally after much prayer, it was Koo-Chahana that came to Vorheart. And moved his heart with all the good and worthy things he had discovered in his journey and battles. So it was that Vorheart became Guardian of Koo-Chahana. May Vorheart reign in strength until such time as Koo-Chahana finds another greater champion and may that be a very distant time to come. May Vorheart win many victories for Koo-Chahana and may the Galaxy tremble at Kai-Rang's chosen children.

Now in the closing days of the Kangenraga Festival of the Third Cycle, a Rashkir warrior emerged of the Union. His credentials qualified him as an Obsidian Guard and he was eager and quick to learn of the Matriarchs. While guarding the Obsidian Tablets of Aandti, he could often be found in the secure sections of the archive reading over their text.

Now in these days this warrior, by the name of Panaries, had risen to the rank of Union Made Man. When he was not in the archive, he was in the training pits learning the Rashkir Martial Arts, or on the laser pistol range, or flying maneuvers amongst the stars.

So it was that during the Festival of his Kangenraga that her spirit emerged to him at the nightly drum circle and she possessed him and would not depart his soul until he swore service to her and her alone above all Matriarchs. And she whispered to him that she would guide the his hand in battle and in life. That his strikes would find rhythm and purpose.

So it was that Panaries entered the chamber of the Runic Guardians and took up the Guardianship of Koo-Kangenraga's stone. So now in the Third Cycle of the Temple, peace reigned over the galaxy once more. And many events transpired. The Obsidian Guard, Hermaeus, was taken up by the Matriarchs to be judged an immortal and so left his mortal shell behind and was mourned and celebrated amongst the Temple.

Then the Temple received signs from the runes that it should at long last become affiliated with the Union.

It was in these days that the Guardian of Sahas and the Guardian of Koura fell into long discussions with Nhyujm, whom they had known for a long time. Nhyujm was famous for his work in stellar cartography and in the art of trading. But as comes to all the hope for a good battle and the call of the Matriarchs led Nhyujm to join the Temple.

For many days he meditated and worked amongst the Temple. Learning and reading of the books of Kai-Rang. It was on an occasion when he exited the Temple to sit by a pool of water that he fell into a trance. And in this trance the Matriarch of Water, Koo-Waimiz, did show him her nature. How she is a source of life, the marker of time and season, that she was able to be an irresistable force. And she whispered a great many other secrets and promised to help make Nhyujm a great warrior.

So it was that Nhyujm became the Guardian of Waimiz. May Nhyujm reign in strength until such time as Koo-Waimiz finds another greater champion and may that be a very distant time to come. May Nhyujm win many victories for Koo-Waimiz and may the Galaxy tremble at Kai-Rang's chosen children.

In the closing days of the Third Cycle, during the Festival of Vayu, the Empire and Federation had entered into war and the dragons of the galaxy feasted on war. The mighty release of Vengeance and combat raised the star of Koo-Adauichi, and she sought the galaxy for one that would serve as her mortal representative.

She wanted to breath the air of a mortal, to sense the fear of the finite. To see and experience life in the heart of a warrior that would become mighty and fearsome. Her spirit swept the galaxy and found Solar Flare, Chief of the Union.

Solar Flare was much beloved by the Guardian of Kengen who spoke of the valiant warrior around the campfires of the Theocracy. And during the Third Cycle Solar Flare joined the Temple. Often he spoke of Adauichi, imploring her spirit to tarry around the fires. Reciting the stories he had read on Atlas and Aandti of Adauichi's people.

So it was Adauichi found her Guardian. And Solar Flare ascended as he began his Pilgrimage. May Solar Flare reign in strength until such time as Koo-Adauichi finds another greater champion and may that be a very distant time to come. May Solar Flare win many victories for Koo-Adauichi and may the Galaxy tremble at the coming of Kai-Rang's chosen children.

Within a few days of the Ascension of Solar Flare to the Guardianship of Koo-Adauichi, the spirit of the Matriarchs again moved swiftly through the Temple. Katipo, a human female, formerly of the Empire had come into the Temple during the Third Cycle. To some she was a normal warrior of the Temple. But in her aura and spirit there was something different.

Many times we had talked over the Matriarchs and their flights through the cosmos. But always Katipo's earnest desire was to follow on Koo-Hon. This disturbed me and caused me great happiness at the same time. Over the weeks that followed Katipo prepared her spirit for the merging with Koo-Hon. For Katipo there was never any doubt. However the prospect of Guardianship eluded her until the night of the dream.

In Katipo's own words:
"It was a dream I will never forget, but neither can I properly word what happened. One moment I was dreaming, the next moment it simple was. The dream was. There is no other way of saying it. I did not sleep -I will not believe it- but neither was I awake. I was alive. Yes, let us call it that. I lived, in a dream. A dream with Koo-Hon.

She did not speak to me. I have heard from the guardians that some of them recieve words; I did not. I saw it all. Raw emotion, cool logic and a overruling wanting. Matriarch Koo-Hon, mistress of Fate (and of Time, I sometimes think) no longer wanted to wait. She was to have a guardian, nothing would stop it. Whatever I had planned, it no longer mattered. As the mistress of Fate had long known, it was to be. It was tonight that I was called; I have been touched by Koo-Hon herself and have been worthy. I saw what she wanted, I understood. I knew that it would not have mattered what I did, it would have ended here. I do not know whether at the same place, at the same stage, but it was to be. Once more; everything simply was."

So it was Hon found her Guardian. And Katipo ascended to the Guardianship of the Matriarch of Fate. May Katipo win many victories for Koo-Hon and may the Galaxy tremble at the coming of Kai-Rang's chosen children.

With the awaking of Koo-Hon's guardian the final shift of the cosmos could be seen, a new spark was emerging into the Temple. Great excitement was thrown about on many worlds. As stars began to orient themselves and the Constellation Draco was about to shift once more. We of the Temple do not know what the last days of the 3rd Cycle will hold for us. But Kai-Rang is certainly close, his power and the presence of his Matriarchs daily fill us with a euphoria that defies sanity and limit.

Deep into the Fourth Cycle of the Temple, Koo-Kotinga, Matriarch of the Harvest began to move in the hearts of many unclaimed warrior. Even to the Rune Master she appeared to tempt him away from Kai-Rang himself. But it was another warrior that she would choose.

Stone came upon the Temple, a Keldon Warrior, of purpose. It was his strength and conviction to duty that enamored the Matriarch Koo-Kotinga to fly with him. And so in this way Stone saved Codex Delphi from capture by becoming Guardian to Koo-Kotinga.

So it was Kotinga found her Guardian. And Stone ascended to the Guardianship of the Matriarch of Harvests. May Stone reign in strength until such time as Koo-Kotinga finds another greater champion and may that be a very distant time to come. May Stone win many victories for Koo-Kotinga and may the Galaxy tremble at the coming of Kai-Rang's chosen children.

In the Fourth Cycle of the Temple of Kai-Rang, a young Keldon emerged and made his presence known about the Second planet of Lazebe. He was amongst the students in attendance at Goron Technical Institute. But was lured away from the world of technology when Codex Delphi came to visit the Institute for a lecture. In the days that followed Macai swiftly gained rank and prestige in the Union and in the Temple.

In these days most of the Matriarchs had found Guardian's except for Koo-Vayu and Koo-Pakanga. Vayu having lost her original Guardian, a great and beloved champion of the Union, during an earlier war. The Temple and Vayu had been in mourning of this for some time. In fact starbases and ships were named after the lost Guardian.

But as with all things time heals. And Vayu was determined to outwit Pakanga for the next Guardianship. It was in this time that Vayu began helping the young Keldon, by the name Macai, to excell in running missions. The Temple also marvelled that he was very open and communicated well. Not the usual grunts of a fanatic warrior. Macai's council became valued around the campfires.

So it was that Vayu, Matriarch of Air, found her Guardian. A slow courtship in deed but well played. So Macai, in the Fourth Cycle of the Temple, ascended to the Guardianship of Koo-Vayu. May Macai reign in strength until such time as Koo-Vayu finds another greater champion and may that be a very distant time to come. May Macai win many victories for Koo-Vayu and may the Galaxy tremble at the coming of Kai-Rang's chosen children.

Toward the end of the fourth cycle a Warrior came upon the gates of the Temple who was well known to the Guardian of Kengen. His name was Aahz. The Guardian of Kengen regarded him kindly as a member of the Union that stood with him many times in the line of battle. Aahz had served in the Union faithfully, spiritually, and was known for his discipline and zeal. So it was that the Son Aahz entered our halls and was given a place next to the Guardian of Kengen.

Son Aahz became an Obsidian Guard and prepared himself ritually each day as prescribed by the Temple code. But there was some trouble amongst the stars. It was known by all in the Temple that Koo-Pakanga had not found a Guardian of her own, and she daily assailed the Guardian of Kengen, trying to rip his soul away from Kengen herself. But the Guardian of Kengen was faithful to his Matriarch, and together their bond grew stronger.

But in lurking over the Guardian's soul, Pakanga began to sense the great power held in this new Obsidian Guard, Aahz. So it was that Aahz heard the calling for many of the Matriarchs and there was much jealousy. So much so that some even urged their Champions to challenge Son Aahz. To maintain order Aahz came into the Temple and requested a reading of the runes.

There was great power in this reading and Koo-Pakanga fought viciously with her sisters to lay hold of the crystal runes. In the end she was victorious and so Aahz surrendered to her, this Matriarch of War.

So it was that Pakanga, Matriarch of War, found her Guardian. So Aahz, at the close of the Fourth Cycle of the Temple, ascended to the Guardianship of Koo-Pakanga. May Aahz reign in strength until such time as Koo-Pakanga finds another greater champion and may that be a very distant time to come. May Aahz win many victories for Koo-Pakanga and may the Galaxy tremble at the coming of Kai-Rang's chosen children.

And after the third great war between the Union and the Empire, Many pilots came to the temple to learn of it's teachings. One such Pilot was Kalanco. And as he was drawn to take the pilgrimage of Kia-Rang he heard the voice of Hon speak to him. The mistress of Fate can be fickle, and she accepted Kalanco as her guardian. Her previous guardian Katipo being unable to meet the challenge of guardianship ceded her runestone. May Koo-Hon smile on Kalanco and may the Galaxy tremble at the coming of Kai-Rang's chosen children.

From the above the Matriarch's Guardians were as follows:

Perhaps the Rune Master should question the above regards whether or not they wish to keep their runes? At least three of the active pilots are without an alliance at the moment and all would make useful returnees to Theocracy.

I could never find much relevant info about the Theocracy on the pardus forums, so reading this made me all happy

I also realise some things of what I thought about the Theocracy is inaccurate.
I guess it's a bit like every religion: it changes all the time and you lose sight of what it originally was. Of course it'd be good to not change it a lot.

But, nonetheless now that you've dug that up, we can adopt some of that for old time's sake, to preserve what Codex Delphi imagined the Theocracy to be.



As for the Runic Guardians, I'm still waiting on replies from the ones I know of, which are indeed on this list. I send regular PMs. If in one month time they haven't replied, I'll have to change their titles to Sage Champions, and reclaim the Runes they hold. Probably goes with a little story.

The Sky God of the Rashkir, Kai-Rang, calls his children to join his Theocracy. An order of Warrior-Priests, dedicated to the old traditions. He calls his children to Pilgrimage across the the stars, to harden themselves through trials, to ascend to great heights, to celebrate the Matriarchs, to protect the Constellation Draco, and to defend the Trans-Rashkan from peril.

The Theocracy accepts all Rashkir of the Federation, Neutral, and Union flags, under favorable circumstance. Other souls, who are of other races, who seek after Kai-Rang will also be given consideration.

The Theocracy also announces the schedule of the Festivals of the Matriarchs. All Kai-Rangs children are welcome to participate.

Theocracy of Kai-Rang
Social Beliefs

•Neutrality: The Theocracy of Kai-Rang is a neutral alliance due to the Rashkir being spread across the Federation, Union, and Neutral sectors. Our Neutrality alignment is strictly to facilitate the communion of these politically diverse pilots. As we are dedicated to the Sky God and his priests first flowed from the Rashkir we consider the spaces the Rashkir have occupied to be our home.


•War and Military Service: The Theocracy of Kai-Rang believes that it is the duty of each member of the Temple to be a warrior first, for in the fire of battle the faithful are tested, refined, and purified. All faithful of the Theocracy are encouraged to fight for their beliefs, the Theocracy, and for their respective factions. Theocracy pilots are further encouraged to fight for the Trans-Rashkan in its hour of need regardless of faction.


•Empire: We believe that Kai-Rang created all things, all peoples. We believe that each race in the galaxy has a right to exist and operate in their own societies and political systems. We believe the Empire has a right to exist and to conduct trade, defense, and war. However in the worship of Kai-Rang a person may only be dedicated to Kai-Rang. It is our belief that the Federation and Union allow this freedom. It is also our belief that members of the Empire are asked and should be dedicated to their Emperor. It is thus our standing that one can not be a member of the Empire dedicated, heart and soul to the Emperor, and be a servant of Kai-Rang, dedicated heart and soul to the Sky God. We thus do not accept active Empire pilots.


•Veiled or Disclosed: The Theocracy of Kai-Rang is a disclosed alliance, under Galactic Council charter. We have done this because our cause is to protect our home society, sectors, and infrastructure. It is thus our course to help prevent attacks and intrigues by the Shadow Syndicate that are contrary to our mission and our purpose. We do openly report though that we are in collusion with certain members of the Shadow Syndicate that share our goals and love for the Trans-Rashkan.


•Illegals: We are a conservative order, steeped in the old traditions. Our members who are of the Esteemed Pilots Syndicate are pledged to not break faction laws or to own or operate Slave Camps, Drug Stations, or Dark Domes. Our members who are not of the Esteemed Pilots Syndicate though are not prohibited from doing so. We view slaves as a social class, though it would be Kai-Rangs will that such installations be kept from his holy places. The Theocracy reserves the right to dispose of any facility though that is not welcome by faction law.


•Bounties: We recognize faction and private bounties as both a means of maintaining faction law, private justification, and a matter under the control of the Matriarch of Fate, Koo-Hon. Except for the denizens who maintain the sectors of the Pilgrimage, with which the Threocracy maintains relations, we allow the servants of Kai-Rang to collect bounties and in turn be collected on. May fire purify.


•Piracy, Telerobbing, and other Violence: Acts against the the Trans-Rashkan are an opportunity. Those who cause damage to Kai-Rang's children test those children. His children may rise to the occasion or fail and be taught a lesson. The Theocracy of Kai-Rang will hunt and seek out the invader, we will defend those who ask our help. The Theocracy in turn will act in like manner, given justification, in a measured way during the prescribed time.


• Faction Politics: We encourage the children of Kai-Rang, the members of the Theocracy, to be active in their faction's political discourse. We support the Union and Federation political policy as it applies to the respective faction's territory.


• Sector Claims: The Theocracy of Kai-Rang makes no claim to sectors or closed economies. Nor does the Theocracy recognize the claims of others that can not be established by benevolent care and consideration for the Trans-Rashkan.



Earlier today I completed the Pilgrimage across the Constellation Draco.

For others that would wish to take the Pilgrimage there are three Orders of the Pilgrimage.

- The Pilgrimage of the White Dragon
- The Pilgrimage of the Gold Dragon
- The Pilgrimage of the Red Dragon

Each is progressively more difficult and dangerous. To help recognize those that have accomplished the Pilgrimage I will be creating a board on the Theocracy Forum, in the Hall of Rashkir with a list of Pilgrims.

In addition I will be offering credit rewards for those that accomplish one or more of the Pilgrimages.

- For completion of the White Dragon ~ 25,000 credits
- For completion of the Gold Dragon ~ 50,000 credits
- For completion of the Red Dragon ~ 75,000 credits

Members of the Theocracy will receive double the above rewards.

Recruitment Message

I was asked recently why the Theocracy, doesn't directly ask anyone to join the alliance. Well...during Koo-Waimiz's Festival we might laugh.gif

It's not because we don't want the pilots we meet to join. I suspect the three of us feel that the more the merrier, we do need 14 more pilots at least (see earlier in this thread). But the fact is I've never responded to an invitation to join an alliance, save when I was recruited into the Ebidium Hand by my long time friend Ragnar. I was also contacted by Archeron and perhaps one or two others.

I know a great many pilots, and I meet nearly half a dozen every week patrolling the galaxy. In fact I even tried to recruit one of the pilots I tried to kill (in my way) wink.gif

The Theocracy is something to live for and believe in and experience. The other lads may send out a note or two. But I believe in building relationships. If you wish to talk to me about anything I won't put you off. I'm not saying that is unusual, just well you know. I think I exchanged over 2 dozen messages today with a certain pilot...I wish him the best of luck.

In this Festival of Rir, I wish I could say that the damage I am about to inflict was not personal. But it is to a degree. One of us will live, one of us will die. One of us will wake up with a smoldering heap where a building once stood. Of course there are always options to all that, I will always extend an olive branch. Whether it is taken or snapped is not up to me. Snap it and Rir will be filled with delight.

Uhm...but back to my point. I will deny no pilot that wishes to worship Kai-Rang or seeks the protection of his children, or the communion with his fellow warrior. I will not see an allianceless pilot and send him an invitation right off the bat. Just as I like to learn and know about my enemy, to appreciate who they are, I like to do the same in all pilots I meet.

I hope that all Theocracy pilots that you come into contact will treat you with the courtesy that only fanatic Rashkiri warriors for the Sky God can extend. We can be polite while making friends and hopefully when burning down your cities.

The Theocracy is made up of a temple...there are several halls.

* * * * *

A young warrior is welcomed to the the Theocracy and he is welcomed into the Hall of Temple Warriors. At this time he guards the very edges of the temple, he defends the edges of the Trans-Rashkan. He develops his faith and his skills. The Temple Warrior is valued highly.

To enter the next highest hall, the Hall of Temple Priests, he merely has to win [a YSD Bronze Ribbon]
or complete the Pilgrimage of the White Dragon

A more experienced warrior who has won the ribbon above or taken the Pilgrimage of the White Dragon while outside the Theocracy or a Temple Warrior who has accomplished the same is welcomed into the Hall of Temple Priests. At this time he supports the faithful, gives comfort to the Pilgrim, and burns the invader and criminal alike. He strengthens the faith of those around him and advances his skills higher. The Temple Priesthood prepares the way of Kai-Rang.

To enter the next highest hall, the Hall of the Obsidian Guardians, he merely has to win [an ESD Bronze Ribbon]
or complete the Pilgrimage of the Gold Dragon

An experienced warrior, on the edge of greatness who has won the above ribbon or taken the Pilgrimage of the Gold Dragon while outside the Theocracy or a Temple Priest who has done the same is welcomed into the Hall of the Obsidian Guardians. At this time he rushes to meet the foes of the Trans-Rashkan, he seeks to destroy them high and low, he learns how to dismantle sectors, and ambush convoys, he is the good Wairuhauk of Kai-Rang.

To enter the next hall, the Hall of the Runic Guardians, he has to win [an SDQ Bronze Ribbon]
or complete the Pilgrimage of the Red Dragon

Next he must win one of the 16 Matriarchal Runes in the Ceremony of the Ascension. Thus proving that he is the strongest and greatest amongst the Rashkir. Any new claimant to Kai-Rang may not automatically gain admittance to this high place, this Hall of the Runic Guardians, unless he wins it through the Ascension.

Q: Why is it that Codex Delphi does not claim devotion to a single Matriarch?

A: Because I hold the Master Rune, the Kai-Rang Rune. My devotion is to all the Matriarchs, but particularly so during their individual festivals. As the holder of the Kai-Rang rune, I must emulate the emotions and actions of Kai-Rang. I thus must love all of the Matriarchs for they complete me.

Q: Why does the Theocracy then request that Warriors claim a devotion to a single Matriarch?

A: Because the Theocracy seeks to find a holder for each of the Matriarchs runes. Also it allows a pilot to develop an affinity and knowledge for the nature of their particular Matriarch. However, since the Matriarch's are a reflection of the Rashkir Warriors soul, all of the Matriarchs spirits touch on the Warrior. Another major reason is so that the Matriarch can in turn bless the Warrior with luck and achievement in their chosen area. Chakken Blit for example claimed first the Matriarch Koura, or Gold, and is currently trading. Murl Amry chose the Matriarch Hon, or Fate, and recently completed his Pilgrimage.

Q: Does one serve a particular Matriarch permanently?

A: No. A Warrior can simply make a public or private profession at a later time stating they are seeking the favor of a different Matriarch to guide them through a time in their life. Also those wishing to take part in the Ascension ceremony, a time when Warriors claim the rune of a Matriarch, they may release the rune they hold and pursue another in the same manner.

From time to time I use the runes to have a personal conversation with Kai-Rang. It gives me pause to think of where we have been and where we are going.

So I asked Kai-Rang what he feels the Theocracy, dedicated to his glory and the defense of his people, offers to pilots.

The runes replied to me with these symbols of Kai-Rang's Matriarchs.

Koo-Kaj ~ Mother Goddess of Fire

Kai-Rang says that his children, who serve in the Theocracy, are blessed with an ever flowing tempo to their lives as pilots. With an endless array of activities, and gifts showered upon their flight through the galaxy. They are blessed to fly under the banner of the Sky God and the beauty of a life of the warrior. From small ships to traders, to fighters, to battleships they fly amongst warriors that celebrate and assist in their transitions as shown by the symbol of Waimiz. And finally their lives are given purpose, something to fight for, an entire slice of the galaxy to defend and preserve, as well as to explore and enjoy.

That of course is somewhat abstract, such is the manner of the gods, speaking from places so distant and removed, yet so close to the heart.

The Theocracy offers:

* Building placement and upkeep, with 100% of the building costs covered by the Theocracy
* Contests or Festivals where pilots earn points and credits for being active in skilling, XPing, ranking, bounty hunting, trading, and every endeavor imaginable.
* Opportunities to take on Quests and Missions, some like regular missions, others like treasure hunts, others mysteries to be solved, where the pilot is rewarded for completion.
* A Pilgrimage, hunting creatures in sectors soon to cover 6 clusters of the galaxy, and tailored to the skill levels from new pilots to the hyper experienced.
* A low tax rate, that acts as a personal savings account. All taxes returned to you upon request or departure from the alliance.
* An open hierarchy for leadership roles and opportunities.
* An opportunity to explore your personal character, as much or as little as you like.
* Honestly a whole lot more that will be soon made public.

Finally, I will say that I try to be honest and supportive with each pilot that joins the Theocracy. I try to set a good example as much as possible and would like to thank each of our pilots for flying with the Theocracy. For each endeavor that a Theocracy pilot has undertaken I have tried my utmost to make sure that they are rewarded as much as possible, so that one day they can turn to their fellow pilot and do the same. The Theocracy has killed several pilots, but we have always tried to do so with justification and consideration for those we fight.

We have strived to seek victory in all endeavors but to celebrate both victory and defeat as the intervention of Kai-Rang in our lives.

So we are seeking pilots of a special character to learn with us and to follow after the Sky God as warriors, regardless of ship or experience.

Could Kai Rangi return as a Keldon?

Where does the theocracy stand on holy crusades to cleanse the overlords?

This is a rather important debate on the planetside temples. And one I have been struggling with myself. Perhaps the view that Kai-Rang's chosen children is incorrect, or perhaps Kai-Rang held similar Ascension ceremonies amongst all of his children, that is amongst all races...

The main debate now is what is the significance of the Rashkir cultural memory and tradition, in the face that other races also are accepting Kai-Rang. If Kai-Rang created the Rashkir and all the other races, were there similar events happening in each races homeworld. Has time and the ebb and flow of politics, war, and time covered over Kai-Rang in other parts of the Galaxy.

If so then is the Great Ascension only for a child of the Rashkir or does the Great Ascension have four crowns. Or is the vision of the Empire true in that there is only one to rule them all.

From what we know of life, if anything, it chafes under a dominating hand. The Ascended child, would be valued for their heroics, their mastery of politics, their understanding of tactics, their leadership and their fighting ability. For this is how they become ascended.

However the purpose of the Ascended being is not to rule, but to inspire.

We are confident however that the Great Ascension will one day happen. This is only mentioned sparingly, the exact events and the happenings that transpire are a closely guarded secret, lest some force attempt to corrupt it and the temple. The Great Ascension is after all the temples greatest achievement and also its greatest weakness.

I am inspired that so far 1 Rashkir pilot and 2 Keldon pilots have completed the Pilgrimage of the Red Dragon. I am inspired that the initial Path was mapped by a Rashkir, but is now being remapped by a Keldon. I am inspired that Humans and Ska'ri have also joined us.

If it turns out that the Great Ascended being, the perfect and favored child of Kai-Rang is not a Rashkir then I will not be disappointed or dismayed. The Temple will serve that Child until such a time as the stars change or Kai-Rang returns to once again fly his chariot through our stars.

Greetings Trans-Rashkan,

As many of you know, I recently finished the pilgrimage of the Red Dragon, and shortly afterwards dedicated myself to Matriarch Kengen, Kai-Rang’s queen of Power.

Since that time Kengen has directed me to a number of dragon dens, to commune with her fellow Matriarchs, and the reports of my journeys have caused her great dismay.

As you may know. Matriarch Kengen favours pilots who make plans, who persevere, and who set and realize goals for themselves. In the last 2 weeks, I have found no less than 6 pilots sitting in open space within dragon dens, by all accounts completely absent from their cockpits. In fact I even found 2 pilots in a single den last week!

This is of special concern to Matriarch Kengen. She maintains that dragon dens are a sacred place, one that should be used to enhance a pilots experience, and their skills, and one used to commune with the great Matriarchs. These pilots are entering the den unprepared for their time there, and are either becoming too tired to move, or are running out of fuel.

Pilots entering a sacred den without proper preparation are an abomination unto Kengen, and she will not suffer it any longer. She has instructed me to start taking action in these instances. I asked her about one-rounding pilots found in this manner, but she maintains that a lesson must hurt a little if it is to be remembered.

Kengen has thus instructed me to pod any pilots that I find in dragon dens, who are not active at their consoles, or who are unmoving for an extended period of time. She tells me I may drop some credits on the pilots first to help soften the blow of the repair cost, however she will not be satisfied by anything less than a pod ride in the end. She hopes that a quick trip back to their homeworld will teach pilots to treat dens with proper reverence and dignity, rather than as a place they might retire to after a drunken night on the town.

She has allowed me to make this notice, to allow pilots the warning. Kengen’s eye isn’t everywhere, and as her proxy in this matter I am not everywhere either, however where I do see this I will act.

Please be aware, this isn’t a policy of the Theocracy in general, although they are free to act as Kai-Rang and his mates instruct them. This is a special duty, placed on my heart by Kengen, and one that I will do my best to fulfill.

Many hours ago I saw these words by Koo-Kengen.

And I was struck and amazed by them.

Not because I was shocked by them, but because these were words that I have heard uttered by the Matriarch's many times. However I have not myself spoken them because of the fragility of the technological spirit of this modern age.

A dragons den has never been a safe place. Until Kengen received her champion though her and the other Matriarch's were limited in their ability to test those that entered the dens and tarried there, camping as if sitting on the back side of a slimy Space Worm.

However before there is an over reaction I offer a few things.

First and foremost Koo-Kengen's words apply to pilots of the Theocracy of Kai-Rang, perhaps more so than others and it will soon be coded into our temple laws.

Second, outside the zone of the dens I am hopeful that Koo-Kengen's rage shall be abated.

Third, while it is true that one can have a spiritual journey, we have found that the voices of the Matriarch's and of the great warriors of ages past come in a rush of spiritual energy. Which can be overwhelming. We have found that after the battle and the communion that the true meaning of the words spoken come later in a dream while meditating before bed or in the temple.

And finally I do offer this prayer...

Koo-Kengen, forgive us for those times when we do not appear alive and active and faithful in your domain. I beg for your mercy and consideration of especially the denizens of the Pilgrim's Path, who support the spiritual journeys of so many. I beg for your mercy and ask that you spare the likes of ULMH and others who have extended to us great hospitality for Kai-Rang's temples. Koo-Kengen if there is any gift that can be bestowed upon you as a sign of our faith, that your wrath should not fall on us please let it be known. And finally Koo-Kengen, I will forever more endeavor to remove myself from your field of battle and that of the other heroic warriors that surround you. And as I pass to always pay homage and respect to you and they, in the hopes that one day my spirit may also fly free.

For now it is always good practice to make sure that your engines do not overheat in a den. Kengen can be a great ally and friend. This decree is offered up as a means to awaken the masses. That many labors and equipments can be lost in a den. Kengen and the dragons are often times the least of the dangers in a Den.

Care to clarify the Theocracy's stance on this?

I will try.

I am the Rune Master of the Theocracy, I hold the Kai-Rang rune from the remains of the master crystal. At the Aperture the master crystal split into 17 fragments. As Rune Master it is my duty to seek out and find 16 other pilots to hold one fragment each. Each fragment bears a rune of one of the 16 Matriarchs.

Once a pilot, who is a member of the Theocracy completes the Red Dragon Pilgrimage, that pilot has the right to Ascend. This can be at anytime if a Matriarch rune is unclaimed, otherwise they may attempt to win a rune from an existing holder at the time of Ascension (a festival) in formal combat.

A pilot that holds a Matriarch Rune in the Theocracy is empowered with certain rights and priviledges, including the right to speak for their Matriarch. In addition these Rune Guardians have almost absolute freedom to pursue the wishes and desires of their chosen Matriarch, going so far as modifying their own responsibilities within the temple, collecting a retinue, and making declarations.

At present we have two Rune Guardians. Tulkas is the Rune Guardian for Koo-Kengen, and Slothrop is the Rune Guardian for Koo-Paibisundarat.

In regards to the statement of Koo-Kengen as presented by her Rune Guardian. I have made an attempt to remind Koo-Kengen of the many believers that assist the Temple, protect the dens, enrich the environment around it, and provide for pilgrims and the children. Since the announcement by Koo-Kengen, her Rune Guardian has sought to engage any ship that he finds in a dragons den, as defined as those zones on the nav screen that go black in a den. However Koo-Kengen's Rune Guardian reports that since the announcement no pilot has been found asleep in a dragons den that he has explored.

In addition I reminded Koo-Kengen via her Rune Guardian that the Theocracy has a NAP with the alliance ULMH. However I had to admit that we actually have no formal agreements with any other alliance, just a set of understandings. I have explained to Koo-Kengen that killing pilots would likely make it difficult for the Pilgrimage to continue.

But in the end I have to leave it to Koo-Kengen how to enforce her edict.

Under the Theocracy rules, I am bound to give absolute freedom to the Rune Guardians, except in certain extreme circumstances. In fact the only way that Koo-Kengen's edict could be over ruled is if Kai-Rang himself stated such. Though I am the bearer of the Kai-Rang rune I rely on another Matriarch, who has not yet found a champion, for direct contact with Kai-Rang.

Until then I talk to him via the reading of the runes and by talking with the spirits.

In this instance for example, I know that Tulkas has heard the word of Koo-Kengen, for these words have been uttered to me many times.

So at this time the only pilots that would definitely not fall under Koo-Kengen's wrath should be pilots of ULMH and pilots who are under Pilgrimage, who we are charged to protect.

Regarding the Temple's stance on the Empire.

We in the Temple still regard that we who are members must be able to put our devotion to Kai-Rang first in our lives. We were of the position that to be a member of the Emperor meant that an individual placed their devotion first to the Empire. We believe that because this is what an Emperor asks of his subjects.

There are many instances where a pilot though is a member of the Empire, does service for the Emperor but places their passion and heart in another place. To view anybody as a simplistic organism is incorrect. Kai-Rang has created all beings and in the times of the first Empire, Rashkir priest went to all corners of the Galaxy.

Freedom to do something or be something is a matter of the individuals heart to fight for it. It is not a matter that is offered and handed down by society. A slave can be free if he will but free himself. However collectively we believe the Empire to be devoted to the Emperor...which is the way it should be.

In terms of the Temple, Empire pilots have always been welcome to take the Pilgrimage...assuming they are not refused access to the holy places. As to the rest I will leave it to Kaj.

It has always been the belief of the Theocracy that the Temple of Kai-Rang should be open to all sentient beings. While the Rashkir are the source, no other being has been barred from membership in the Theocracy based on their species.

On the matter of factions, this was different. While we welcomed Neutral, Federal and Union pilots with open arms, Imperials were rejected. It was the belief that the worldly devotion the Imperials show toward their Emperor would stand in the way of the spiritual dedication that is required of a pilot flying under the Theocracy's banner.

Recently I have taken up the Rune of Koo-Kaj, Matriarch of the Spirit of Fire, and with it the position of Application Manager for the Theocracy of Kai-Rang. My conversations with her, together with what the runes have told the Rune Master Codex, have moved me to change our attitude. Thus, I have the privilege to proclaim Koo-Kaj's decree:

From now on Imperial pilots may apply to the Theocracy. It is Koo-Kaj's will that every sentient being shall have the chance to follow their faith and prove themselves worthy before Kai-Rang and the Matriarchs.

I want to emphasize that all sentient beings were always able to follow the Pilgrims Path. However, now Imperials too will be able to do this under the Theocracy's banner. They will be allowed to dedicate themselves to a Matriarch of their choosing, they will be able to rise in the ranks of the Temple and ultimately they will be able to ascend and claim a rune to become a Matriarch's voice in our world.

Yet, due to the very nature and the upbringing of Imperial citizens, they will have to prove their dedication before they can join the Temple and that their allegiance to the Emperor does not stand in the way of their faith.
What this means is that the acceptance of each Imperial pilot will be decided on by the will of the Matriarchs as represented by their Runic Guardians. The majority of them must be in favor of the pilot joining. In case of a tie, the will of Kai-Rang as represented by the Rune Master's voice will decide.

Should the Imperial decide to ascend and claim a rune, the Matriarchs will once again be called upon. Should one of them, again, represented by their guardians, find a fault in the Imperial pilot, they can deny the ascension to the pilot until such time as he or she has proven himself.

A special case that has to be taken into consideration is the topic of war. The never ending circle of life and death tells us that another war will come at some point in the future.
The Theocracy is dedicated to the protection of the Trans-Rashkan, that spans from the Union North Rashkir Core through the Neutral Zone all the way to the Federation Rashkir Core. As such, the temple is bound to assist these entities in a struggle to ensure the safety of the Pilgrims Path.
But...the Trans-Rashkan is not the only place where the faith for Kai-Rang is strong. His temples are spread throughout the entire known universe, including the Empire.
An Imperial pilot wishing to protect these temples in his home is free to leave the Theocracy in order to do so. The one thing that is required of him is that he does not attack the territories of the Trans-Rashkan in any way. Doing so would violate the temples holy duty of protecting the Pilgrims Path. We could not let him come back into the Theocracy should he work against this duty.

These are the conditions under which our brothers and sisters in the Empire may come forward to join the Temple. So rules Koo-Kaj and so the temple shall continue it's duties.

For as long as you are in the IC Comms, I don't see a reason why you couldn't, Not Bacon.

I wish I could tony Stark this and just have a computer read it out to me while I am doing other things but I think I will need to open a few bottles of crabbies and have a good read.
